What do students learn through Community Service Learning?

The Utrecht University SIG CEL team, the Utrecht University Centre for Global Challenges, and the Community Service Learning team from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam jointly organize a Learning Lab for teachers with interest and/or experience in Community Service Learning (CSL).

Date: Thursday January 21 2021
Time: 15h30 – 17h00
Location: online, through Zoom
Language: English

Community Service Learning offers a new way of learning to students: it is experiential education in which students, teachers and external partners work together on societal challenges.

What is it exactly that the students are learning through CSL and how do we get there?

In this Learning Lab, participants can exchange experiences and knowledge on student learning and best practices for teachers supporting the student’s learning process. There will be a short presentation of research on this topic by Marlies Visser and Sevgi Fruytier (VU Amsterdam) and a case study on the Learning Lab Lunetten by Stef Dingemans (Utrecht University). These will be followed by more in-depth-conversations in small break-out groups. So, if you are looking for a unique opportunity to share/gain knowledge around student learning in CSL with teachers from both the VU Amsterdam and Utrecht University: sign up now!
